Ellen Jean Winograd

Ellen Jean Winograd is a 1980 Graduate from Stanford University with a B.A. in Sociology, secondary emphasis in Music Performance. She obtained her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of Law (Now UC Law, San Francisco) in 1983.

Ellen has been admitted to the bar in California since 1983, in Nevada since 1984 and to all Federal District Courts in California, Nevada and Colorado, including the Federal Ninth and Tenth Circuit Courts of Appeal. Ellen primarily focuses her practice in the areas of labor and employment, transportation, and has been lead defense counsel on Class Action Employment matters. She has more than a dozen published decisions in State and Federal Courts. She also writes for legal and business publications and sits on or moderates for legal panels.

Ms. Winograd has extensive experience representing clients in federal and state courts as well as before several administrative agencies, including the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Nevada Labor Commission, and the Nevada Equal Rights Commission. The matters in which Ms. Winograd has been involved have resulted in more than a dozen published decisions.

Although Ellen is not performing on her French Horn much these days, music and theater were instrumental in her life and education, so she continues her support of the Arts by sitting on and advising numerous Arts Boards, including Cazadero Music Camp, Reno is ARTOWN, Nevada Shakespeare and the North Lake Tahoe Symphony Association as well as donating her services giving legal presentations to music professionals and educators. She has no comment on whether she finds musicians or lawyers more interesting.
